A second successive 8 - 8 draw at home; with Sussex and Middlesex themselves having played out an 8 - 8 draw the SCCU competition was looking extremely open at this stage. This was one of the most bloodthirsty U175 matches ever, with only two games drawn. The advantage swung one way and then the other during the afternnoon. Middlesex eventually achieved an 8 - 6 lead, but wins by Roy Heppinstall and Paul Barclay levelled matters up.
