TOTAL - Home TOTAL - Away

For the second time in the season, Sussex gave Essex an extremely close call. The scoreline gives a misleading impression, since after the match was decided, Trevor Coote who had been on the receiving end all afternoon was gifted a point when his opponent resigned after an oversight in a position where many onlookers thought that Trevor was still losing. Despite a clear grading disadvantage. Sussex managed to hold their own in the lower order, and it was the top boards that saw Essex home on this occasion.
